Artist Statement

I am an Art & Design student at London South East Colleges, Bromley, originally from Northern Cyprus. I have experimented with a range of materials, including watercolour, acrylic paint, lino printing, soap carving and clay modelling. However, my favourite materials are ballpoint pen, pencil and fine liner. I am particularly passionate about designing and building science-fiction environments using LEGO bricks. My creations often include spaceships, bases and planetary landscapes. I find building with LEGO therapeutic, as it allows me to escape into imaginary worlds and create something entirely from my own ideas. Alongside LEGO, I particularly enjoy drawing with fine liners. I love the precision and consistency they offer, especially when creating intricate details and patterns. Working in pen means I cannot erase mistakes, which encourages me to trust my decisions rather than overthink them. I enjoy the freedom of committing to each mark and seeing where the drawing takes me.
