Art Futures 

"Visualising creative practice, skills, and progression" 

Art Futures is a department-led digital framework that supports students in evidencing creative practice, skills development, and progression over time. Through curated portfolios and awarded digital badges, students build a professional, outward-facing record of their learning.   

Project Development

Art Futures was developed by Sarra Bird, Art Lecturer in Further Education, and is initially being trialled as a pilot project within the FE art context. The framework has emerged from research-informed practice, drawing on Masters-level study in Art Education and dialogue with digital credentialing models across education sectors. It adapts these approaches specifically for vocational Art Education, with a focus on visible progression, learner motivation and attendance. The pilot integrates curated digital portfolios, staged micro-credentials and an individual digital “backpack” model to support learner progression and professional identity.
